It is hard writing a Year-In-Review letter without being offensive on the one hand by cutting a lot of good stuff out, or by including all those elements that meant much to us and having a small book as a result. With that in mind I proceed.
When the spider of Godless thinking sinks her fangs into our minds and releases her poison, our brains soften, and we become capable of all sorts of intellectual foolishness, not to mention depravity.
“I feel some faint hopes that God will, of his infinite mercy, return again with showers of converting grace to poor, gospel-abusing sinners; and my hopes of being employed in the cause of God, which of late have been almost extinct, seem now a little revived. O that all my late distresses and awful apprehensions might prove but Christ’s school, to make me fit for greater service, by teaching me the great lesson of humility!”

1. When you treasure someone or something, you treat them or it well.
2. We want to live in the vague smudges of tolerance, plurality, relativism, wholeness, inclusiveness, non-judgmentalism etc…because there we find justification for our depravity.
3. Preaching that is not worship is of little value in satisfying the hearts, minds and souls of men.
4. Excessive comfort is a form of enslavement.
“Taste and see that the LORD is good; happy is the man who takes refuge in Him.” Psalm 34:8
Buffet analogy; the person who only chooses a baked potato at every meal cannot recommend the quality of the entire menu because he has tasted so little of it.
Do not settle for the baked potato of Christian devotion in tiny, rushed prayer time and small glances at the vast ocean of God’s brilliance in His written word. Instead, eat and drink deeply.
May the rocks and mountains of Your word cause waves from the vast ocean of Your grace to wash up so far onto the shores of our thinking and our deepest heart affections, destroying, drowning and carrying away all the deadwood in its path, leaving only the sweet sand of Your Holy Spirit’s presence. So ravish us tonight Almighty Christ.
The fruit of the Spirit does not does not grow on the dark tree of what condemns.
“Guys with tiny penises lack true manhood.” So said the nasty email I received today.
“The heart and soul of saving faith is the spiritual apprehension of the glory of God in Jesus Christ and the embracing of all that God is for us in Jesus Christ for the satisfaction of the thirst of our souls. That’s saving faith.
